At Leesburg Veterinary Hospital, we strive to provide you and your pet with cutting edge medicine and service, loving and compassionate care, as well as the best customer service. It is important that you be familiar and comfortable with our doctors and staff as well as our facility. So please, come right in and take a "tour" of Leesburg Veterinary Hospital!

When you first enter our hospital, our Client Care Specialists will greet you. They will help to check in your patient and determine what your pet needs during his or her visit. Once you are checked-in, please make yourself comfortable in our spacious waiting room that has designated dog and cat waiting areas. Feel free to visit with the kitties that are up for adoption, browse our food selections, pick a toy for your pet, or to look at our exciting fish tank to help pass the time!

A Veterinary Assistant will then greet you and guide you and your pet to an examination room. Our examination rooms are stocked with such equipment as a lift-table, x-ray viewers, and many models to help with client education. The bulk of your visit will be spent in one of these exam rooms as the doctor examines your pet and discusses plans for preventative health care or to help treat any problems your pet may have. At Leesburg Veterinary Hospital, we pride ourselves on client communication and education and the doctors and staff will spend extra time explaining each step of the exam or how to do such things as clean your pet's ears or brush his or her teeth.

As you venture into the back part of our hospital, you will first encounter our pharmacy and laboratory area. At Leesburg Veterinary Hospital, we have invested a lot in our laboratory equipment and staff training. Our full service, in house laboratory can be used to run many tests including heartworm and Felv/FIV tests, fecal exams, urinalysis, CBC and serum chemistries, as well as clotting times. We also strive to keep our pharmacy well stocked so we can keep a wide variety of medications available for you. In doing so, you will be able to leave your visit with any medications your pet may need. If needed, we can also mail prescriptions to your home but please give us 24 hours notice for any prescription refills!

Our treatment area is often bustling with activity. There are ICU cages here so that surgery patients or animals with critical illnesses can be closely monitored by our doctors and veterinary technicians. A treatment board helps to ensure that patients receive treatments they need at appropriate times. Routine procedures such as veinipuncture, nail trims, and suture removals are also performed here.

We have invested a lot of time and expense to help make our surgery suite as state-of-the art as possible. Each day, a surgeon and technician work together to provide each patient the most smooth and safe procedures as possible. A surgery technician closely monitors all patients under anesthesia and during recovery. We also utilize equipment to monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, body temperature, ECG, and pulse oximetry. All anesthetized patients are placed on IV fluids that are delivered through an IV fluid warmer and pump. The surgery suite is also stocked with 2 anesthesia machines, circulating warm water blankets, a warm air blanket, dental x-ray, as well as a dental unit with a drill.

Our radiology services consist of both x-ray and ultrasound. Our x-ray machine is isolated in a separate room to protect staff and other animals from exposure to scatter radiation. Our x-rays are developed in an automatic processor and can be viewed on light boxes both in the treatment area as well as each exam room. The ultrasound is also kept in a separate, quiet area where proper time and concentration can be devoted to examining your pet. We try to ensure each patient's comfort during these procedures with padded troughs and blankets. Our ultrasound machine can be used for many tests ranging from assessing fetus health to finding bladder stones to scanning for tumors.
