Dr. Michael Strickland purchased the 40-year old practice from Dr. Jack Howard on Nov. 1, 1985. Leesburg Veterinary Hospital (LVH) moved to its current location in March of 1988. The hospital was designed under American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) standards with specific attention to providing quality medicine and surgery for small animals.
We began with 2 doctors, expanded to 3 doctors in 1990, then expanded
again to 4 doctors in 1992. Presently 5 (full and part-time) veterinarians
are employed at LVH. We have expanded our staff to keep pace with
this growth: 4 veterinary technicians, 4 veterinary assistants,
6 kennel aides, 6 office staff, including a hospital manager,
complete the employee roster. To service the rapidly expanding
population in Loudoun County, we have 2 doctors dedicated for
appointment hours each day Monday through Saturday, plus one doctor
dedicated to surgery only cases Monday through Thursday.
Due
to zoning ordinance, LVH can provide boarding only for animals
with medical conditions that necessitate overnight hospital
care. We do provide excellent professional grooming services
for our patients 5 days per week.
LVH is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association.
AAHA has conducted a quality assessment review of the clinic's
facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health
care management. Less then 18% of small animal veterinary facilities
in North America are accredited AAHA members. LVH is continually
evaluated to maintain our accreditation.
