Meet Our Technicians:



Jennifer Strickland, L.V.T.

Jennifer began working at Leesburg Veterinary Hospital in 2004. As a veterianarian's daughter, she has always had a passion for animals, translating into her career as a licensed veterinary technician. She graduated in 2008 from Northern Virginia Community College with an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. At work, she especially enjoys surgical assisting, critical care monitoring, and hospital management.

When she is not working, Jennifer enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her horses. She owns and operates a small private sales and equine boarding facility near Middleburg, VA. Her constant companion is her Corgi, Chesney, who follows closely wherever she goes.

 

 



Kimberly Shaffer, L.V.T.

Kimberly became a licensed veterinary technician in 2005 after graduating from Northern Virginia Community College with an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. She has been with Leesburg Veterinary Hospital since 1998. During school, she worked at an emergency specialty hospital doing critical care monitoring, triage, and general nursing care with some observation in neurology and cardiology. In 2006, she returned to LVH, bringing her interests in emergency medicine, client care and education, and nursing care.

She has lived in VA since 1995 and currently lives in Leesburg with her husband and 2 children, 2 dogs (Chai & Gator), 2 cats (Sunny & Monster), an iguana (Cena) and 4 fish. She enjoys music, reading, and hula hooping.


 

 



Joanne Scott, L.V.T.

Joanne has been a licensed veterinary technician since 2005. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education, a M.S. in Education as well as an associate's degree in Veterinary Technology. Sharing her home with cats, dogs, small mammals and reptiles, Joanne has a special place in her heart for special needs animals including Percy, her three-legged dog, and Salley, a blind leopard gecko. She enjoys fostering chinchillas, guinea pigs, and orphaned kittens.
Joanne's professional interests include massage therapy, working with exotic animals and rehabilitation. She is a member of the Virginia Association of Licensed Veterinary Technicians and the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians. In 2009 she completed a course on canine massage through Equissage.

Melissa Davis, Veterinary Technician Student

Melissa is currently enrolled in Penn Foster College working on her veterinary technician license. She moved here in 2006 from New Jersey where she studied Animal Science at Rutgers University. There she worked in the Equine Research Program with six month old foals. In addition, she worked at a small animal emergency hospital gaining valuable experience. She has a special interest in wildlife and exotic animals. Melissa has always known that she wanted to play an important role in veterinary medicine.

Her personal interests include hiking, photography, music, travel and being environmentally friendly.

 



Lisa Kitchen, L.V.T.


Lisa is a graduate from Blue Ridge Community College. She became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 1993. She was employed at Leesburg Veterinary hospital from 1998-2000 and has now returned after raising a family.

She currently lives in Winchester, VA with her husband, 3 children, 2 dogs, and 3 cats. She enjoys playing basketball and attending other sports events with her children, reading, and watching movies.
